Need More Followers on Twitter?

QUICK POST: I just started twitter a couple days ago and I definitely need more followers. I'm still getting use to the whole tweeting deal, but I did notice that everybody wants to be followed. I was thinking that everybody should post their twitter names in the comment section so that I can follow you. I'm just trying to get my name out here and to get my blog noticed, so why not have loads of followers who could check out my blog? Tell your friends about this blog and get them to post their twitter names also.

Plankin'....Owlin'...?

The term planking is described as the practice of lying down flat with arms to the side, to mimic a wooden plank. Many participants of planking since 2011 have photographed the activity on unusual locations such as atop poles, roofs and vehicles, while some "plankers" engage in the activity by planking only their upper body and feet while leaving the back suspended. Below is a picture of someone plankin' on top of a street light. Have you planked today?

Owlin': 

The new viral craze; a bit like planking, except you crouch down,  and stare like an owl. You then take a picture and post it on facebook. Brownie points for random places to owl. What's the next trend going to be? Mousing?

Harry Potter's New Movie

I read that the eighth Harry Potter movie made more than seven billion at the box office. People were camping out and lines were so very long for the midnight premiere. Reports say that attendance had declined throughout the series. Is it because Harry Potter is getting a little to old to be playing this role?

Was the movie that great that everybody wanted to camp out to see a weird little wizard? I'm definitely not a fan of Harry Potter; I think the movies and books are very boring and I don't know why people are in love with this series. I was forced to watch the very first movie and I hated it. Maybe its because I'm not into magic like everyone else.

I would love to see pictures of all the weird people who dressed up like one of the characters from the movie. This gives me a great laugh. Please comment.

Freshman's; You ready for college?

Classes will be starting soon and I wanted to give you freshman's some advice about how you should approach your first year. There is a few things you should do:


1.) NEVER GIVE UP: I know you might be homesick, but you shouldn't let that interfere with your school work. You have to learn to be on your own without your parents.
2.) GET A TUTOR OR FORM STUDY GROUPS: You actually have to study for exams when your in college. Don't slack like you did in high school because it will catch up to you.
3.) MEET NEW PEOPLE: Don't hang out with the same people all the time. Enjoy yourself, meet new people and make connections. Hanging out with the same people everyday could be very annoying and boring.
4.) BE NICE TO YOUR ROOMIE: Your going to be living with this person for nine months, and I pretty sure they'll have access to your stuff when your not around. So respect them and you will not have a problem.
5.) BE OPEN MINDED: When you get to college you might see things that you've never seen before in your whole life. Don't let that discourage you.

Bieber Fever?

I really don't know why so many people are in love with this Justin Bieber kid. His fans are crazy about him; one girl even killed her self because she saw the pictures of him and his girlfriend on the beach making out. His crazed fans are always tweeting about how he needs to break it off with Selena Gomez, and how they want to harm her. Why are you guys so crazy about him? Why can't he date Selena Gomez? She's a pretty girl, are you guys jealous? Obviously if Justin Bieber wanted you, he would be with you.
I really want to know the answer to why are your fans so crazy about you?

Light Skin Vs. Dark Skin = IGNORANT

I'm so tired of hearing people say that being a shade lighter or being a shade darker is better than the other. I took up a writing class a few months ago and we talked about how in the olden days light skin people were treated better than dark skin people, and still are today.
I'm light skinned and I've been treated differently in many cases. I've been harassed because I'm just a shade lighter. I can't help it if I'm a little lighter than some of my peers, I just wish that we would just stop separating ourselves. Why do we do this?
I ran across a video of an old episode of the Tyra Show where she had women come on her show to talk about how they bleach their skin and their children skin. The women on the show were dark skin and when they used the bleaching cream they became a few shades lighter. They each told Tyra that when they became lighter that they received more attention, especially from men. They've always wanted to be lighter because they envied the lighter girls that they went to school with. The lighter girls would receive more attention from the teachers and the boys in the class. One of the women on the show even said that she would only date Asian men because she refuses to have a dark skinned baby on her hip. These women are just ignorant to me, why would use harsh chemicals on your skin and your children's? They could really damage their skin, but all they think about is being a shade lighter.
People like this focus most of their attention on how the media portrays light skinned people. They watch videos and see that light skinned women have lead roles in music videos and are on the cover of men's magazines. Have you ever noticed that? I didn't at first but now I realize that light skinned people are favored, but why? We are all beautiful, why should the shade of our skin compromise the way you look at us?
Never walk around thinking that your better looking because your a shade lighter, because obviously that's just ignorant. Beautiful black people embrace your skin and don't let others bring you down.

Marvin's Room Remixes

I keep reading and hearing about these new Marvin's Room remixes, which originated from Drake's Marvin's Room. He named the song after the room that Marvin Gaye used to sing in to get away from the press, and he also recorded the song in that exact room. Artist like JoJo, Teyana Taylor and Chris Brown came out with their own Marvin's Room, with a different perspective. After there remixes of the song surfaced others started remixing and making parodies of the songs. I honestly think Drake's version is way better than the remixes that seem to follow. Why is that when a new hot song comes out that everybody and their mama wants to jump on the track and remix it? Original songs are always the best. The only reason why other people try to remix is because they think they can do better..but sometimes they fail. For example, Chris Brown, he made a remix and it is horrible. Word of advice Chris, don't ever remix a Drake song and think you could do better. I still love you Chris. Other artist did well when they remixed the song like Jojo and Teyana Taylor, I play their remixes almost everyday. But isn't it getting a little too crowded in Marvin's Room?
Well in the parody of Marvin's Room, Bump Yo Remix, Alphacat talks about how there are so many remixes but Drakes are better. But what do you guys think?

Dirtier Than Ever by Vickie M. Stringer [HOT READ]

I just got finished reading the third installment of the Dirty series called Dirtier Than Ever. For the people who have never read a Dirty novel, the book follows Raven Gomez a.k.a Red. Red is the most ruthless person you'll ever meet, she'll do just about anything in order to get what she wants. She'll steal, lie, cheat and back stab all her friends and family. Red is only out for herself, she's emotionless, and she's only about getting money. She even tries to end the love of her life, life so that she'll be able to live in the end. But will karma finally catch up with her? In Dirtier Than Ever, you'll definitely see why people call her Dirty Red.
Vickie Stringer is a wonderful writer, she makes all the characters come to life. This book will indeed never let you forget who Raven Gomez is. I absolutely love this book and you should too. Go out and buy Dirtier Than Ever at your local bookstore, and if you don't have the first to go out and get it too.
